The Friends of Woolhope Church

The Friends of Woolhope Church was launched on 23rd September 2012 as an organisation independent of the Parochial Church Council to help preserve the 12th century building and churchyard so that Christian worship may continue as it has for the past nine hundred years.

Projects carried out by the Friends since 2012 have included:

  • Mullion repair of the window near the organ
  • Grating and tile repair near the front door
  • Mechanical repairs and redecoration of organ pipes
  • Conservation of a late 16th century oak chair
  • Renewal of pyramid roof to the tower
  • Conservation of Kempe window
  • Repair to the cross on the Skallenge roof
  • Beech hedge to replace cedar trees
  • New altar frontal and draught curtain
  • Pulpit handrail
  • New drainage to eliminate damp
  • Restoration of 13/14th century monument

…and there are more projects in the pipeline!

These projects are funded by subscriptions, generous Donations, fundraising events, grants and legacies from supporters. Please visit St George Celebrations 2025 to see the programme of events we organised earlier this year.
